Services for jobseekers

Employment services support job-seeking and finding employment. Our services are open to all working-age people. We can help in various situations – whether you are a jobseeker, a student, future entrepreneur or already employed.

Registering as a jobseeker and using services at Job Market Finland

The E-services at Job Market Finland are the primary online service channel for employment services. In the service, you can register as a jobseeker, follow your employment plan, notify changes in your job search, and apply for labour market training or a start-up grant.

If you become unemployed or are laid off

Register as a jobseeker as soon as possible – preferably before you become unemployed, but no later than on the first day of unemployment, because you can only receive unemployment security starting from the date of registration.

If you are laid-off, register as a jobseeker. This should be done on the first day of your unemployment at the very latest. You can register already before your lay-off begins or your working time is reduced. You will receive unemployment security during the lay-off period if you have registered as a jobseeker and the other prerequisites for receiving the benefit are met.

Accessing employment services

As a jobseeker, you will have an initial interview and job search discussions where you’ll prepare an employment plan together with your personal expert and monitor its progress. Your service needs will also be assessed in the interviews, and you’ll get suggestions of services that are suitable for your situation. These include job-seeking and career coaching and KOTO training as well as work and education try-outs.

Are you planning to start a business?

Once you have decided to start a business, don’t delay contacting employment services. You can get a start-up grant for starting your business operations, or you may be entitled to unemployment security.

We offer start-up entrepreneurs support for launching and developing business activities and issue decisions on start-up grants. If you are interested in entrepreneurship, you can learn about our services and advice at Job Market Finland.
